Confessions of a Fit Millionaire — Part 2

Take 12-Steps Toward Lifelong Success
Last week, we began our discussion about how to be a healthy millionaire. This week, I’m going to give you the exact formula. Enjoy!
Here’s the 12-step success formula many of my most successful clients follow faithfully:
1. Write out a top-five list daily, before going to bed. Make sure to include the top five things that will draw you closer to your goal.
2. Get quality, uninterrupted sleep each night. You absolutely cannot have a multimillion-dollar focus without enjoying a full night’s rest.
3. Drink a glass of water immediately upon awakening, and then drink at least one cup of water for every 14 to 20 pounds of body weight you carry around. Your brain is nearly 80 percent water. If you expect to fully function mentally without fully hydrating your system, you’re fooling yourself.
4. Read inspirational material for 20-plus minutes before starting your day, and then again for 20 minutes before falling asleep at night. I learned this habit from a mentor who told me that in order to stay up to date in any industry, I needed to read no less than two books each and every month. I made a decision about six years ago to read two books each week, thereby changing my life—and my income.
5. Always eat a breakfast that includes lean protein and a few carbs. Both your brain and your body need energy from food, not from chemicals like caffeine. Those who develop long-term success always keep their bodies fortified and rarely skip breakfast. Those who work hard and then burn out are usually the ones who think they don’t have time for breakfast.
6. Eat at least two salads each and every day. Salads and raw vegetables contain more useable long-term energy than any other food.
7. Include a lean source of protein and a low-carbohydrate vegetable with each meal. This is going to help keep your body in the fat-burning zone all day and your brain functioning at its peak level.
8. Exercise two times each day for at least 10 minutes each. What does that mean? Am I asking you to become an exercise freak? No, absolutely not! But keeping your blood moving throughout the day is vital to maintaining a tight, lean youthful body as well as keeping you healthy on a cellular level. So, get out and walk after lunch, or close the office door for 10 minutes and do some simple exercise—just get yourself moving twice a day.
9. Laugh every day, even if you have to force it. Every time you laugh, your body produces chemicals that immediately begin to repair and rejuvenate every cell in your body. Take advantage of this little secret, and learn to laugh more often.
10. Visualize yourself having already achieved your next big goal.
11. Do some form of deep-breathing exercises twice daily. (This only takes a few minutes, but it’ll drastically improve your mental focus.)
12. Avoid sugars, soft drinks, diet foods and processed foods. Although there are more tips I’d like to share with you, this is a great starting point. Bear in mind that all top-level businesspeople practice exercises like this. And if you think you know a high-growth individual who doesn’t do these things, then you’re not setting your sights high enough.
Look to those who are truly at the top of the ladder, and you’ll find rich, healthy, focused individuals who never let a day go by without maximizing their potential in every area of life.
I wish you all the most success and happiness that life has to offer.
Until next time,

I agree with you about the importance of regular deep-breathing exercises. I practice meditation regularly and I notice that deep-breathing calms my mind and helps to improve my concentration.

I agree with you about visualization. It is a great technique to help us reach our goal, as everything we achieve starts from our mind.

I used to read books when I still studied in college, but now I can hardly allot time to read. Thanks for reminding me of the importance of reading. I should start doing the hobby again.

Great formula, thanks for sharing Chris. I can’t agree more with you about drinking enough water. I never knew that we should drink a cup of water for every 14 to 20 pounds of our body weight. I am just usually advised to drink 3 or 4 liters of water a day.

Well, I often skip breakfast due to time constraints. I always go to bed late and consequently wake up late, hence I have not time to get breakfast. Do you think that’s why I get a hard time gaining weight?

“6. Eat at least two salads each and every day”
Thanks for the advice. Salad is part of my daily meal. I agree with you, taking it regularly makes me feel fresher and more energetic. Actually, I even consider to be vegetarian.

The biggest issue I have right now is processed foods and they are everywhere. Its almost insane to think about how much processed food I have put into my body. Right now I am looking for ways to get away from this and its hard I wont lie.

I have added these tips to my daily calendar. It will be interesting to see how successful I can be at following them. I will post back in one month to let you know how it’s going.

Really great tips. I know I have learned that getting enough sleep and drinking enough water are definitely key factors in making me feel my best.

Wonderful tips. I am a recently diagnosed diabetic and have cut out processed foods and most carbohydrates and I have never felt better! I look forward to reading more of your tips!

“2. Get quality, uninterrupted sleep each night”
That’s true. Getting enough sleep really makes a different. I know what I am saying as that quality and uninterrupted sleep is still a luxury for me. There were rare times when I could allot enough time (like 7 or 8 hours) to sleep well, and I really felt great in those times.

I enjoyed reading this article. I just had a conversation with my doctor the other day about this very subject. Funny how the information you both talked about was the same.

These guidelines seem so hard to do. A person needs a lot of determination and concentration to do all these. I will forget half of it within a week.

Fantastic tips. Simple and very powerful. I am already doing some of these and now I can incorporate even more for a healthier life.

Some awesome advice here admittedly I haven’t tried all of them yet but just drinking the water before bed and on waking, getting enough sleep, and cutting out sugar has helped immensely!

These are some really good tips and at least a few of them most of us are already doing so it shouldn’t be hard at all to add in the rest!

These are great steps to take! I enjoy the way you have laid out the list in twelve simple steps. I am going to refer back to this list time and again until I have them down to automatic behaviour. Thanks for the outline to success!

Excellent article with very insightful tips that for sure will cause transformation if we can follow thru…

Great tips on how to lose weight and be successful! I like the exercise two times a day for 10 minutes each. There are a lot of days when I don’t have time to hit the gym for an hour. It’s good to know that doing it a couple times a day will work too.
