The Best Results ALWAYS Occur One Step Past Where Most People Give Up

christopher_guerriero1I just got back from the gym about 30 minutes ago, and I wanted to share an important success “reminder” with you.

I’m not sure about you guys, but getting to the gym is a pain in the butt sometimes—but we all have to do things we don’t want to, right?

At the gym, I was doing biceps exercises, and my goal was 12 reps in each set.

With each set I did, I tried to increase the weight and make it a bit tougher.

It got much tougher.

So much so, that by the eighth rep, I wanted to throw in the towel—but I didn’t!

I wanted to stop so badly, but I didn’t.

What I did, instead, was give just 5 percent more effort. I didn’t stop at 12 reps—I went to 15.

You see, we need to be reminded that the magic doesn’t happen on the first mile; it happens when you go the extra mile for yourself and for others.

Anybody who knows anything about weight training or dieting will tell you that you get most of your results from those last two to three reps you don’t want to do, or from those last few weeks that you really don’t want to diet.

But here’s the catch: Most people quit on themselves and their dreams right when it gets tough.

Unfortunately, they never get to taste the magic that could have taken place—the magic that could have transformed their body from ordinary to extraordinary.

And that taste is so sweet. It really is unfortunate that more people don’t give themselves the gift of going the extra mile so that they, too, can enjoy living life in the body of their dreams.

I’ve said it over and over again, but I’ll repeat it here one more time: You don’t have to be 50 percent or 100 percent better then everyone else when you diet or exercise.

Five percent is it.

Yes, that’s it.

Persist past your desire to stop dieting or exercising. Do a little bit more today.

Do one more rep.

Work out 15 minutes longer.

Drink one more glass of plain, fresh water.

Eat one more large bowel of salad (without a lot of dressing).

And encourage one more person to exercise with you.

Are you ready to give 5 percent more today?

I can’t tell for sure, but I really feel that you are ready.

Am I right?

Make your move.

Until next time,

Many guys usually have no idea why they couldn’t get rid of unwanted weight or get a better shape. The point is people never stop searching for a magic pill which gives them what they want in a very short time meanwhile all they have to do is reading informative posts like this as well as do the workout.

Thanks for your help. I’ve always gotten nowhere and ended up back to my starting point, generally because I train for a few months , then I catch the flu, then take a few weeks to catch up at work. I wouldn’t have eeven noticed that pattern if I hadn’t kept notes in a diary. It’s amazing how much time can slide by and you realise it’s been weeks since you went to the gym. Consistency in effort is the hardest thing.

Doing a little bit more today. It’s a great approach and I think I can manage it. It’s much easier than setting an ambitious goal at the beginning of the program and then giving up when you feel it’s too hard to accomplish. Thanks Chris for sharing this tips.

That’s a great strategy. I think I can manage to do 5% more today and the next days, thanks for inspiring. It is way much better than setting an ambitious goal at the beginning.

If everyone will do the extra mile, nobody in this world would be poor. It is sad that many people are aiming only for mediocrity. This one of the reasons why there are very few rich people.

We should train ourselves to be like what Chris have stated. We will always have success in sight if we have acquired this kind of attitude. It is not easy to do but we can start little by little.

Even if you give 1% more each time, you are doing so at 1% more each time for each set you do. I could do 1% more on Monday, and another 1% added to that on Friday, by the end of that week I have given 2 more % than I had started with. 5% is a good number to set, but we all need goals and we need to follow through with them otherwise they are wasted attempts to get better each go around.

This is actually what one of my professors taught us. Finishing a an assignment or a project for the sake of passing the subject is not enough. We must do it with excellence that we can be proud of it after it is done. I think this is the same as taking the extra mile in any endeavor.

I found this article at just the perfect time. I have been working very hard at losing weight but the temptation has been very strong just to slack off on my diet and exercise just a little bit. After all, I have been working very hard. I deserve a break. But, thanks to this article, I will keep going just one more day, then one more day till I reach my goal.

It is so easy for me to just give up. This article is the kick in the bum that I need. I need to find that inner voice that says, “Keep going Sarah! Don’t stop.” I need to learn to push myself harder. Thank you Chris for the advice.

Thanks Chris, that’s encouraging. I like the idea of pacing one more step. It seems to work for me. I often set too ambitious goals and I am easily discouraged when I don’t meet my target.

I think we all get a little discouraged from time to time but we need to remember that we are not going to get the end result we are looking for if we give up. It can be done, but it needs to be constant in our thoughts and actions.

I believe it is the extra hour spent learning the tools of the trade that makes us successful. I will continue going the extra mile. Thanks!

I like the idea of doing a bit more today. It seems to work with me. I tend to be ambitious in setting goals and often discouraged when I cannot achieve them. OK, I will give it a try.

Absolutely! What is giving 5 more percent really? In the grand scheme of something it’s nothing….but it all adds up. Think of how much more you can do by giving that 5%!

  17. TomZ says:

Total truth! If you don’t keep digging in and setting the goal higher each and every day, you will make nothing of your life. You have to strive and give more than you think you can. Then you can count yourself a success.

I hear you man. It’s gotta be the next step, the next rep, the next mile, etc. I’m still digging in and still going for the gold every day. I know that just over the hill there is that perfect opportunity for me to make my million. Thanks for the inspiration.
